SECTION 150:85-1-7. Eligible activities

  •   Emergency Shelter Grant amounts may be used for one or more of the following activities relating to emergency shelter for the homeless, including transitional housing. The Emergency Shelter Grant Program Guidance and Application issued each fiscal year shall set forth the specific activity guidelines.
    (1)   Renovation, major rehabilitation or conversion of buildings for use as emergency shelters, including transitional housing, for the homeless.
    (2)   Payment of operation, rent, food for feeding the homeless, security, fuels, insurance, and utilities.
    (3)   Payment of equipment and furnishings, including but not limited to beds or cots; blankets, towels and like items; and office equipment.
    (4)   Provision of essential services including, but not limited to: services concerned with employment, medical and mental health treatment, substance abuse, education, or nutrition, and assistance in obtaining permanent housing.
    (5)   Development and implementation of homeless prevention activities.
    (6)   The provision of transitional housing, in coordination with the necessary supportive services.
    (7)   Costs of administration to Units of General Local Government and Community Action Agencies.
