Executive Order 2017-34  
To the Honorable Members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Honorable Members of the Oklahoma State Senate:
I, Mary Fallin, Governor of the State of Oklahoma, pursuant to the power and authority vested in me by Sections 1 and 2 of Article VI of the Oklahoma Constitution hereby direct the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development and its partners to implement a Work-Based Learning Goal for the State of Oklahoma.
By establishing "Earn & Learn Oklahoma" as a strategy under the Oklahoma Works Initiative with the goal of supporting 20,000 quality work-based learning opportunities per year by 2020, more Oklahomans will have access to quality internships and Registered Apprenticeships. Oklahoma Works and its partners at the State Department of Education, the State Regents for Higher Education, the State Department of Career and Technology Education, and the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development are directed to jointly provide the expertise, time, and resources necessary to advance and sustain the work-based learning goal under Oklahoma Works and to promote quality work-based learning experiences for all Oklahomans.
For the purposes of carrying out this work, the partners are the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, through its State Director; the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce, through its President and Chief Executive Officer; the Oklahoma State Department of Education through its State Superintendent of Public Instruction; the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education through its Chancellor; and the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development (OOWD) and its Executive Director.
This Executive Order shall be distributed to the Secretary of State.
