SECTION 230:15-5-78. Party ceases to exist

- The State Election Board shall notify the Secretary of the County Election Board when a political party loses recognition and when the process to change the political affiliations of the party's voters is completed. Upon receipt of the report listing affected voters in the county, the Secretary shall cause the following procedure to be observed.(1) Print new voter identification cards for the affected voters. Mail the cards to the voters along with a copy of a letter provided by the State Election Board that explains why their political affiliations have been changed.(2) Use the report provided by the State Election Board to locate the affected voters' original registration forms in the Central File.(3) Cross out the name of the unrecognized political party and write in the word "Independent." Make these changes in a way that clearly distinguishes them as administrative notations. Initial and date the changes.(4) Replace the voter's registration form in the Central File.(5) Retain the report received from the State Election Board for 24 months.
