SECTION 252:305-1-7. Laboratory services

  • (a)   Types. The types of services available from the State Environmental Laboratory include analyses relating to asbestos, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, general chemistry, metals chemistry, microbiology, organic chemistry and radiochemistry.
    (b)   For Department. The State Enviromental Laboratory shall provide such services and perform laboratory analyses as is necessary to implement and enforce the programs and functions under the jurisdiction of the Department. Analytical services available to the Department include, but are not limited to, the analysis of samples for the purpose of:
    (1)   assisting with studies and investigations of pollution or suspected pollution;
    (2)   providing factual data to support any order, permit, function or program of the Department;
    (3)   providing accurate information on water and wastewater; and
    (4)   evaluating compliance data from treatment systems, disposal systems, discharges, and other facilities, sites and activities.
    (c)   For others. In addition to supporting the work of the Department, the State Environmental Laboratory shall provide analytical services upon request to individuals (private citizens requesting assistance in evaluating their individual water wells or suspected pollution of their property) according to 252:305-1-10, cities, towns, counties, state institutions and other state and federal agencies according to 252:305-1-9.     (d)   Exceptions. The State Environmental Laboratory shall not provide analytical services to entities required to perform monitoring in response to permits or rules of the Department or other state environmental agency permits or rules except that analytical services will be provided to public water supply systems.
