SECTION 340:105-1-2. Overall responsibility

- The responsibility of Aging Services Division (ASD) of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services is to administer Title III of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, and the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act - A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), Section 5310 of the Federal Transit Administration, as amended under Section 5310(a)(2) of Title 49 of the United States Code.(1) ASD is designated by the Governor and the Oklahoma State Legislature as the sole state agency for administering the Older Americans Act and the SAFETEA-LU programs in Oklahoma.(2) ASD places special emphasis on serving older persons in the greatest social and economic need and in promoting services that avoid unnecessary institutionalization of older persons, allowing them to remain in their own homes and preserving their independence and personal dignity.
