SECTION 377:10-7-7. Kinship foster care

- (a) Any responsible adult over the age of 18 with whom a juvenile has a kinship relationship may apply to become a kinship foster home for that juvenile.(b) An OSBI criminal history records search must be completed and a national criminal history records search based on fingerprints initiated before a family is certified as a foster home.(c) The worker shall complete a foster home study on kinship foster parents. Kinship foster parents must meet the standards set forth in OAC 377:10-7-1 through 377:10-7-3.12.(d) A foster parent providing kinship care shall, if possible, complete the training before the juvenile is placed. If training is not possible before placement, the kinship foster parent must receive the training no later than three months after placement. Training requirements are listed in OAC 377:10-7-1 through 377:10-7-3.12.
