SECTION 377:3-1-22. The Advocate General

- The Advocate General is the chief advocate for the rights of juveniles in the legal or physical custody of the Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA). The Advocate General is responsible for providing oversight, recommendations, and necessary action to ensure that juveniles in OJA placements are afforded their legal rights and to ensure their safety. The Advocate General:(1) is an objective advisor to OJA administrators;(2) is an attorney capable of independent action;(3) reports to the Executive Director; and(4) is responsible to the Board of Juvenile Affairs regarding the care of juveniles in OJA custody.
