SECTION 390:35-5-7. Licensure of private investigator applicants with no training or experience

- Applicants for a private investigator license who lack the necessary training or experience to meet such requirements for a license must complete the following steps in obtaining a license:(1) The applicant must be employed by a licensed investigative agency as a bonafide, full-time investigator, or investigator-trainee;(2) The applicant must make immediate application for a conditional license;(3) The applicant must complete the training requirements for a regular license, within 180 days of the date of his conditional license, including a psychological evaluation, if applicable;(4) The applicant must pass the appropriate licensing examination;(5) The applicant must obtain a regular license;(6) Upon attainment of a regular license, a private investigator may become self-employed. In such case, the licensee must also obtain an Investigative Agency License.
