SECTION 35:15-40-41. Procedures in affected herds

- Disclosure of tuberculosis in any herd shall be followed by a complete epidemiologic investigation and written report. All cattle or bison in herds from which tuberculosis cattle or bison originate, and all cattle or bison that are known to have been associated with affected cattle or bison, shall be tested or an approved herd plan shall be on file within thirty (30) days of the date disclosed. These procedures shall apply to adjacent and contact herds as well as to the evaluation and testing of possible source herds for the affected herd. Herds that have received exposed animals shall be tested following the slaughter or testing of exposed animals. Every effort shall be made to insure the immediate elimination of the disease from all species of domestic livestock on the premise. Affected herds shall be depopulated ; however, if depopulation is not possible, the herd shall be handled as outlined under 35:15-40-46.
