SECTION 725:30-4-5. Research and specimens

- (a) Permits may be issued by the director to an official representative of a reputable scientific or educational institution or state or federal agency for the purpose of research, baseline inventories, monitoring, impact analysis or group study when the director determines that such research would provide an educational or scientific value to the scientific community.(b) Specimens for research and educational value may be removed by permit except when such specimen removal would result in damage to other natural or cultural resources, adversely affect scenic values, or if the specimen is readily available outside the park.(c) A permit to take an endangered or threatened species in accordance with the Endangered Species Act shall not be issued unless said species cannot be obtained outside the park and the primary purpose of the collection is to enhance the protection or management of the species.
