SECTION 610:25-9-2. Eligibility

- (a) Individuals who are residents of Oklahoma who have demonstrated a commitment to obtain the necessary credentials to teach in a critical shortage area shall be eligible for consideration if they have:(1) Graduated from high school with a cumulative grade point average which ranks them in the top fifteen percent (15%) of their high school graduating class; OR(2) Scored at or above the eighty-fifth (85th) percentile on the ACT or other similar acceptable battery of tests; OR(3) Been admitted to a professional education program at an accredited Oklahoma institution of higher education; OR(4) Achieved an undergraduate record of outstanding success, as defined by the institution.(b) Scholarship recipients must maintain no less than a 2.5 cumulative grade point average to remain eligible for renewal of the scholarship; it is expected, however, that renewal recipients will attain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or better.(c) Each scholarship recipient shall have agreed to teach in a shortage area in the public schools in Oklahoma for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years upon graduation and licensure as a teacher.(d) Either full- or part-time students may be eligible; however, highest priority will be given to full-time students.
